    “aaduna re-examined 2011 – 2016,” Lisa A. Brennan, curator

    Publisher Statement:

The colors are vibrant.   The imagery tantalizing. The thematic concepts intriguing.  The eye captivated.  The intellect emboldened.  The art rapturous.

When the idea of a multicultural, global literary journal, not yet named, was envisioned, the planning stages foresaw visual arts as a genre to stand equally with poetry, fiction, and non-fiction.  This vision did not perceive images simply serving as a complement to the written word, though some artists/writers have the ability to incorporate these two distinct skills and produce wonderfully illustrated verses.  The concept was to exhibit artwork in an exclusively online journal.  As the name of the journal was settled, “aaduna” did not want to have a single exhibition space but rather three to reflect the personal and intimate influences that helped shape the publisher’s personality.  aaduna premiered with The Penalver, Borders, and Kuta galleries.  Since 2011, we have been mindful to present visual images that can take the viewer to different places and times and elicit a multitude of emotions.  In this journey, aaduna has been blessed to exhibit work of visionaries who in their way, bring joy to our readership.  And we graciously thank them for enabling us to present their work and trust they will continue to explore, challenge, embrace, investigate and broaden the parameters of what we term as Art.

Enjoy this retrospective sampling of the work that we are so proud of.

We thank Lisa A. Brennan for arranging this exhibition and for her exemplary stewardship of the Galleries of aaduna.
